Day 1: CHIANG RAI - HUAY XAI - PAKBENG

Your trip begins early in the morning with the pickup from your address in Chiang Rai between 6:00-6:10am. Travelers transfer to the Thailand–Laos border at Chiang Khong before crossing into Huay Xai.

After immigration procedures, you board the traditional slow boat and start cruising down the Mekong River toward Pakbeng.

We were lucky to have had an outstanding tour guide TIK from Laos knowing all about the different tribes and their history. So we experienced an authentic and heartfelt leader with exceptional communication and language skills!
